This lovely Victorian buckle ring embodies many qualities that the discerning collector desires. There is a profound sense of history associated with it. It has the assay mark of the Birmingham Assay Office and the date letter “L” which corresponds to the assay year of 1885. This is an authentic antique that has withstood the test of time and on close inspection shows slight variations of the design and pattern that indicate that it was finished by hand. It is truly remarkable that it has been safely kept and treasure over all these years – assayed in Birmingham and acquired in Scotland, it has now travelled to a new 21st century home in Hull.
