This lovely Victorian buckle ring embodies many qualities that the discerning collector desires. There is a profound sense of history associated with the ring. It has the assay mark of the Birmingham Assay Office and the date letter “L” which corresponds to the assay year of 1885. This is an authentic antique buckle ring that has withstood the test of time and on close inspection, shows some slight variations of the design and pattern that indicate that it was finished by hand. It is remarkable that it had been safely kept and treasured for many years – assayed in Birmingham and acquired in Scotland, it has now travelled on to a new 21 st. century home in Hull.
